Mammography
Mammograms, which are specialized breast x-rays, are now the most accurate way to diagnose breast cancer. Mammograms are performed on women for various reasons, including breast cancer screenings and the detection of breast anomalies. During the examination at Health Care Imaging Centre, Meerut, your breast will be compressed between two metal plates that emit low-dose X-rays. Mammography requires breast compression because it improves image quality, minimizes patient dose, and more effectively isolates tissue components.
According to the American College of Radiology and Society of Breast Imaging screening guidelines, the majority of women should get their first mammogram at age 35 and then annually beginning at age 40. If you have a higher risk of developing breast cancer, your doctor may advise you to begin early.
Early Detection Is Among the Most Effective Weapons Against Breast Cancer

Mammography FAQs
For each image, the radiologist will assist you in positioning your breast on an x-ray plate. You may be requested to raise your arm or hold your other breast out of the way with your hand.
Suppose you are undergoing standard annual screening mammography and have no current breast problems or complaints. A radiologist will evaluate your images later that day. In that case, the radiologist will ask you to wait a few minutes while the images are produced. Once the photos have been developed, the radiologist will release you if they are high quality. Depending on the image analysis results, the radiologist may want to get additional mammographic images and maybe an ultrasound of the breast.
Mammography is substantially more sensitive than ultrasound at detecting breast cancer in its early stages. Following abnormal screening mammography, ultrasound is applied as a means of problem-solving.
